I had a bet with this Cheap Trick idiot. I didn't believe that Cheap
Trick had their own group, guess I was wrong. Doesn't mean that they
suck and no one listens to them anymore.

You guys all in here think it's still 1980?!! LOL!

Meanwhile Van Halen are still big.

I found this site:

http://www.jamfests.com/napervilleribfest/sponsors.htm

Turns out Cheap Trick played in Bumblefuck, IL at a ribfest for a
paltry $7. Is that what name recognition gets you these days?

I guess when you play arenas and are able to charge $100 a pop, even
tho it was 2 summers ago, you don't need to play Ribfests. Van Halen
still rocks, Cheap Trick is a bunch of has beens followed by
delusional losers who think it's 1980.

If you know 3 chords you can play any Cheap trick song - FACT

'nuff said.

A low blow??? Why did the last tour end so shitty? Sammy and others
all complained about Eddie's drinking affecting the whole tour. Is
that a low blow or is it the truth? You know what you think but the
rest of the world knows the truth.

Oh...I can't wait for the "mighty" VH to star in Rock Star. How
pathetic is that? They should give it up and just kill the VH name.

11 CD's of material? If it is anything like VH 3 then you can keep
it. VH was over once DLR left. VH with Sammy is nothing but
corporate rock and VH 3 still has 2.5 million CD's sitting at K-Mart
and Wallmart in the bargin bin for $1.99.

Enjoy your delusion and go For Unclawful Carnal Knowledge yourself.

Whatever, dude, you know in your heart that Cheap Trick hasn't been
famous since 1980. VH are still the biggest rock act out there no
matter how much you try and spin it.

And I'll even admit that the Ribfest ain't so bad. I looked into it
more and actually it's a pretty big event. 250,000 people were there
and other bands like Ted Nugent, David Lee Roth and Blue Oyster Cult
have played Ribfest, so I'll give you a break on that one. At first it
sounded like it was held at a high school.

But Cheap Trick does play county fairs and again HAVE NOT HAD ANY HITS
since Dream Police. It is pretty shocking that they have their own
group. Look how old they look.

Check it out.

Eddie is as old as Cheap Trick and look at all his hair:

Hurrah!!!
I concur--starting to see lots of old, familiar names, aren't we? :)

I am off to get my copy of Rockford today. I realize, that as a hard-core,
longtime CT fan, I need to be flogged with many wet noodles for having
waited so long, but better late than not at all.

Besides, I do really like what I've heard so far! The Underground Garage
(Sirius 25) has been spinning a few tunes from Rockford, primarily "If It
Takes a Lifetime", in a decent rotation since the CD release date.
Awesome! Finally--a bit of radio respect :)

It's really good to be back. If anyone is interested in why I haven't been
around...

In October 2005 I had the most extreme surgery of my life! Docs said I
probably wouldn't live through the surgery, but I wasn't really scared this
time. I spent one night in ICU and then 10 days in the hospital healing.
Seven of the 10 days I spent with only IVs running...no food...no
water...only 2 ice chips per hour. Before anyone asks...no, this wasn't
stomach bypass surgery, but treated almost the same way! It took a lot out
of me and the doctors say it'll take me a full year to completely heal
physically. However, my spirit has made a complete recovery and I'm better
than ever!!

Now...how can I get CT back to Roanoke, VA??!! Ray & I are ready to go rock
again with them!!

Lynn :-)

I've got the Sportster unit and can store 30 artist/song alerts. If you
hit the 'memo' key when your band (or song) of choice is playing, you
get the option to either "store artist" or "store song". "Store artist"
makes an alert pop up when any station plays your artist of choice (CT,
Beatles, Ramones, Bowie, etc...) or specific song (that would be Dire
Straits "Skateaway" for me.) Haven't figured out yet how many team
alerts I can store on top of that.

I've also figured out how to do the presets, but only put three in so
far (8, 22 & 100).

Hi Mitch,
Thanks for this info.. I've heard a bunch of Trick on there and they
always seem to play something else rather than the normal radio tunes.
So you have to wait until Trick is playing to do this? Or can you set it
up before hand?

If Howard sets up all those old KROC tapes on their own channel and runs
them 24/7 I'll probably not listen to much else on Sirius. <g>

How have you and Karen been? Please tell her I said hello.

Hi Jeff,

I know that it's easy to do when the Band/Song is playing, but I believe it
can be done even when the band or song isn't not currently playing... I
regret to say I don't have the manual handy to give you further details...

I just hope the Stern Gang doesn't get lazy and start to rely on those old
shows... I think the new material is great and don't want the NEW show to
become a "Best of...." the OLD stuff. That being said, bring on the
Jackie/Fred/Robin fights, and Billy West!!

Have you seen any of the Video from "On Demand" yet? Whoa!

We're doing good, Hope Andrea and the kids are well :)

VH Facts:

Sammy Hagar is a washed up Cabo Wabo fat beach bum now
Eddie Cant get his shit together
Michael Anthony is a band whore who will play with anyone willing to
pay him
Nobody cares about Alex
Dave is bald and can't sing anymore......oh yeah, and is also a DJ now

CT Facts:
Well respected amongst older and newer bands alike
Robin looks great and can out sing ANYONE who's sung for VH
Rick can write a better song in his sleep than VH could now
Tom Petersson looks like a million bucks next to any of the douch bags
in VH
CT has had a NUMBER ONE single....VH has not (in 1988 , not 1980)

True, VH can get more people to see them because they were more popular
than CT was/were..........but overall, if you want to measure success
on how many people will go see them, then yeah I guess Van Halen wins.
But, Van Halen was great between 1977 - 1984.......after that with
Sammy, its all down hill..........Cheap Trick on the other hand has
been awesome since day 1 and didnt let fans down EVER!!!!!
Van Halen also ate Cheap Trick's shit in 1988 when CT's "The Flame" was
NUMBER ONE while Van Halen got bad review after bad review for
OU812.........

Figure it out.....CT is better and more respected than Van Halen/Van
Hagar or whatever.

'nuff said.

LOL! Sammy has the number 1 selling tequila in the world! Have you
seen his website? He is one of the most famous American rockers ever.
They payed him a big tribute in St. louis. Where have you been? His
hometown of Fontana, CA is going to build him a statue.

Eddie has said in interviews he has over 11 cds worth or material
ready to go. The guy is the closeet thing to a modern day Mozart. Why
do you think his guitars are named Wolfgangs?

CT may have had a hit with Surrender in the late 70's. But they never
had a hit after that. Dream Police did marginal, and that was it. They
were gone quicker than they came! I Think when Sammy joined VH he
ripped on CT about this and how they were gonna be here for good.

So you think all the experts compare Eddie to Mozart because he's not
respected? Look at all the guitar polls, he ALWAYS rated number 1.

I'm not making fun of you guys, I'm just being honest.

the poles? Dude, get out of the 80's......and oh yeah, The Flame by
CHeap Trick in 1988 WAS #1!!!!

Cheap Trick is more relevant today than Van Halen is. Van Halen is
uninspired AOR cock rock. What's this all about who has more hair? Rick
probably has a bigger dick than Eddie.

Uh, because it's all EVH has left? He's certainly taken leave of his
senses lately.

Really, Cheap Trick is still getting gigs aplenty, even if they're not
playing The Garden these days. Which is more than you can say for the
late, great Van Halen. When's the last time they played a date for their
fans again?

Today, you can catch Cheap Trick in Orlando, closing out Bike Week in
central FL. Then they go out with Aerosmith again, and did I see them
scheduled for Sturgis this summer?

People still LOVE Cheap Trick, yours truly included. Now excuse me whilst
I go kick-start the boyfriend and the Harley, we're off to The House The
Mouse Built (vrooom!)

yep, Van Halen still going strong! Eddie's looking good these days too,
happy, CLEAN and in good health. Long live the legend of guitar. Peavey
is still sponsoring him right? BTW, I saw Van Halen 3 times during
their reunion tour with Sam in 03. Anaheim, LA and Las Vegas. For
$125.00 a ticket x 2 - 3 nights in a row I was impressed with the EXACT
SAME SHOW each night. When are they going to be playing again? Looks
like David Lee Roth is doing good for himself today as an ambulance
driving/2nd rate radio shock jock! How much NEW material did VH bring
us since the end of 80's? They aren't stuck in the 80's NO WAY!

Congrats on your success Van Halen, you should be proud with your
accomplishents!
