I posted earlier this morning that this was better than SPecial One, but
below CT '97

Boy was I wrong...that what I get for listening to it while doing other
things.

I may be misguided, but I think this is their best studio album (do we still
say albums around here) since their heyday.
If Rockford went to a party with '77, IC, HT, DP, it would fit right in.
but I still think it may be at or near the bottom of that class. Still,
strong effort after having been written off by all but a few of us
hardcores.

I wrote that after one listen the songs that stuck out were Welcome To The
World and One More Day, and I still hold to that opinion, but there's other
very good, evern better songs that I missed. My thoughts in no particular
order.

Every Night and Every Day - wow! I don't know if radio is still doing
singles - I don't listen anymore, and I don't do XM/Sirius, but this should
be the first single, and if they get on Conan again, definitely the song
they should do. I absolutely love this song (listening to the songs again
as I write my opinions). One of the best songs on Rockford, if not the
best.

This Time You Got It - if CT was still in their heyday, and able to get
radio airplay, this would be my choice for #2 single. Excellent song, but
I'd choose Every Night and Every Day first.

O Claire - Is this a Lennon lost tune? Is Lennon channeling thru Robin?
Spooky. I bet if you played this to an audience of a hundred, 90 would say
it's a Lennon (but not necesarily sung by him). Outstanding!

CO, CO, CO - Magical Mystery Tour opening, another very good song.

Dream The Night Away - a cross between Had To Make You Mine and Through The
Night...better than both, but does't rock my boat. Would have fit right in
on SACT as a "previously unreleased".

All Those Years - does nothing for me, weakest song on the album, but I
don't hate it like YOYOY and OHM Sweet Ohm...yet.

Decaf - I thought this was gonna be Rockford's "Best Friend" which was my
fav on Special One. Starts off with some Big Bad Tom, and menacing Robin,
but by the time the song gets to the chorus, it apparently took a healthy
does of happy drugs -still a very good song. I'd rather hear the song
crescendo into a psycho Robin chorus...the chorus doesn't match the
mood/tome of rest of the song. If I had my druthers, I'd redo the Chorus,
call it "Decap", and make it a very heavy and loud concert staple for the
Rockford tour. Wait...Decap?...not cool with the recent news in Iraq....my
bad.

Welcome To The World - a very catch song - If "Hello There" went goodbye,
you could pinch hit this as a concert opener. I still wish it was longer
that 2:08.

If It Takes A Lifetime - Nice to see they could recycle the opening of "Let
Go" (Lap Of Luxury) and make a decent song this time. I hear similarities
to ELO's "Telephone Line" in parts of the song.

One More Day - my orignal opinion stands - I like this song alot, quite
unlike anything I can remember CT doing (nothing to compare it to, reminds
me of nothing I can think of). My guess is that some will love it, some
will hate it - Call it the George W. Bush of the album. My wife thought it
was yet another IWYTWM with the drum opening.

Give It Away - i think I heard this on a concert boot somewhere ... would
have stood out on a Busted or Doctor (the sound of a cat in a microwave
would have stood out on The Doctor), but this is medoicre for this album.

Perfect Stranger - good sone, nothing special to comment about

Now...I wrote this without reading any other posts, so my opinions are
unbiased...now I'll read what y'all wrote.

i can't stand welcome to the world. it's the one song i would've ditched
entirely.

I hate to say it, but I feel this way too... I didn't like it when I heard
it previewed, and it's no better on the disc... which now starts with track
2 for me. I'm glad the critics like it :)

Randy, my dear, I love ya but nooooo.

CT97 will always be my favorite album after CT77. Special One sucked
ass but I am pleasantly surprised by Rockford. There are a couple
songs on there that make me reach for the "next track button" reak
quick, but overall it's a solid album.
