It's a safe guess we all have "Rockford" by now... how does everyone like
it? These last few CDs (as sparse as they may be) are as good as most
anything the band has ever put out.

It's better than Special One, but didn't keep my attention. I haven't
listened to it since soon after I got it.

It's still in the car and it's always a possibility. I think my taste
has changed over the years, too, so it's not all them. Though I do
enjoy their harder-edged songs the most... I've been listening a lot
to indie Steve Carlson and Kane (Christian Kane and Steve Carlson) for
the last couple of months.

I wish the band felt the same as you and I Charles..

I was thinking the other day that I haven't listened to CT97 or SACT at
all since heading to Rockford for the Silver concert. I liked Rockford
but it's done being in my CD player.

I've listened to CT97 plenty of times; I still pull it out once in a
while. It's the best album they've done since the early ones.

I was thinking that it's been a long damn time since they've been out
my way, but I'm not so sure I'd be first in line to get tickets if
they came back. That feels pretty weird for me!

Aw hell, I *never* was first in line... but I always got there and will do
so in the future, too. Rockford is a great CD.

I had tickets for the last show they were supposed to do here - not
the classic rock festival, but their own show. They canceled to stay
on the Aerosmith tour which then got canceled because of Steven
Tyler's health problems. CT has never canceled a show out here and I
was really disappointed. The timing would have been great - the
weekend of the first anniversary of the divorce. It seemed
appropriate to celebrate that with CT, but alas, it didn't happen.

I still haven't pulled Rockford back out, though it does ride in the
car with me.

In my defense, I have a whole five mile commute to work and I don't go
many other places so I'm not in the car that much. And I like the new
Keith Urban and Jimmy Buffett albums better. Not to mention the new
Steve Carlson album...

I'm surprised it was released on 8 track.

I'm still seeking one of the limited edition reel-to-reels in mint
condition, but I refuse to go to Ebay because I hear that it's
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-vil.

As long as they use the word 'cool' or 'awesome' somewhere in the
description, it's not as evil.

Kick ass!! I don't feel so bad about those $22 awesomely cool and
ultra rare Rick Nielsen guitar picks that I bought.

It's definitely better than Special One (which really isn't saying a
lot), but I haven't listened to it in ages. In all honesty, Rockford
was a lot better than expected. It would be sort of nice if they'd
tour in the area, but it seems like they did more shows before the
album came out than after its release.

So what was the big letdown with Special One?

The song writing? The playing? The lyrics? The promotion? The album
cover?

For the most part, I just found the album to be boring and that's not
something I typically associate with Cheap Trick. Too many mid-tempo
songs that never really took off, some songs (Scent Of A Woman for one)
have heinously lame lyrics and yeah, I think the album cover pretty
much sucks ass too. But I do like Best Friend, Sorry Boy and there was
another song or two that I am forgetting.

Those are the songs I like as well and it seems like there was at
least one more. I fully admit to liking CT's harder edge and Special
One was a little too adult contemporary for my taste.

Merry Ho Ho Everyone! This year for Christmas I received a Bachelor
degree (finally!) and one kick-ass cold. Apparently Santa and I
disagree on the definition of naughty...

Try all of the Above.
I haven't bought Rockford, but I've heard most of it and what I heard was
much better than anything off of Special One. A friend of mine who owns a
record store gave me a promo copy and I gave it a couple of listens and gave
it back. And I consider myself a Cheap Trick fan, I even defended The Doctor
and Next Position Please when they were originally released to
less-than-pleasant reviews ( I even downloaded the Authorized version of NPP
off of Sony Connect recently).
